‘Chesil Sweep’
Alistair R. Taylor: ARt-Zag ©
The 18 mile stretch of Chesil Beach is steeply shelved with pebbles and shingle from Cretaceous and Jurassic periods. It is separated from the mainland by an area of saline water called the ‘Fleet Lagoon’.
This bold depiction contrasts calm seas with threatening skies, then connects natural patterns with manmade areas of homes and industry. The focus is preserved for the dramatic beach.
