Swanage Old Pier was built in 1859 for quarrymen to transport Purbeck stone to destinations across the UK. Believe it, or not, in its heyday it contained a tramway.
Today its skeletal remains stretch out into the sea. The decayed timbers each have their own stories of days that have shaped many fine buildings. The blended aqua marine colours of the sea highlight the timbers character.
